African Safaris

Wild places. Extraordinary lodges. Trips you never quite forget.

A safari is much more than a checklist of animals. The right destination, season, lodge and pace can turn it into one of the most memorable journeys you ever take - and we’ll help you put those pieces together.

Your first safari - or your next one

Start with the experience you want, not just the country.

Some travelers dream of the Great Migration. Others want private reserves, luxurious lodges, a family adventure, or a safari followed by a few days on an Indian Ocean beach. We’ll help you choose the version of safari that fits you.

Our planning remains personal, supported by Fora and trusted safari and in-destination specialists whose local expertise helps us match the right camps, routing and experiences to you.

Where to safari

Four classic destinations. Four very different experiences.

There is no single “best” safari country. The right answer depends on wildlife priorities, season, travel style, budget and what else you want to include in the trip.

Variety & accessibility

South Africa

Excellent private reserves, strong infrastructure and easy combinations with Cape Town, the Winelands or the coast make South Africa a superb first safari choice - and a very flexible one.

Kenya

Open savannahs, iconic wildlife and the Maasai Mara give Kenya the classic safari imagery many travelers have in mind, with strong options for both luxury and family trips.

Tanzania

The Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and vast northern circuit create one of Africa’s great wildlife journeys. Tanzania is especially compelling for travelers drawn to the Great Migration and wide-open landscapes.

Botswana

The Okavango Delta and low-density safari model make Botswana feel beautifully remote. It is often a higher-end choice, but for wildlife, wilderness and exclusivity it can be exceptional.

Which safari style suits you?

Safari can be tailored far more than most people realize.

We’ll help shape the pace, privacy and level of adventure around the people taking the trip.

Luxury safari

Beautiful lodges, exceptional guiding, private reserves, fine dining and a level of service that can rival some of the world’s best resorts.

Private safari

Private vehicles and guides give couples, families and small groups far more flexibility over timing, interests and pace.

Family safari

The right lodge, age policies, malaria considerations and travel pace matter enormously when children or multiple generations are involved.

Honeymoon & celebration

Private decks, plunge pools, bush dinners and spectacular settings make safari a wonderful choice for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

Safari doesn’t mean roughing it

The accommodation can be extraordinary.

Luxury safari lodges and tented camps can combine complete immersion in the landscape with beautiful design, exceptional food, thoughtful service and remarkable comfort.

Even “tented” accommodation can mean a proper bed, private bathroom, elegant furnishings and a deck overlooking wildlife - rather than anything remotely resembling a camping trip.

When should you go?

There isn’t one safari season - there’s the right season for your priorities.

Wildlife viewing, weather, migration patterns, crowd levels and pricing all shift through the year. We’ll help you match the timing to what matters most rather than simply defaulting to the busiest month.

Dry seasonOften excellent for concentrated wildlife viewing and easier game spotting around water sources.
Green seasonLush landscapes, fewer visitors and strong value can make this a wonderful choice in the right destination.
Migration-focused travelIf the Great Migration is the goal, timing and exact location matter far more than simply booking “the Serengeti.”

Safari + beach

One of our favorite combinations.

A few intense, unforgettable days on safari followed by a beautiful beach gives the trip a completely different rhythm - and makes particularly good sense for honeymoons, anniversaries and longer vacations.

Think Kenya or Tanzania followed by Zanzibar, South Africa with Mauritius, or an East African safari paired with the Seychelles.
